YouTube Rewind 2018. The most disliked video in the history of YouTube. Casey didn't want to make this video. He wants to start to defend the video. It was a miss but behind anything realized there is intention. He knows and understand the intention. The team worked hard to produce this video. There intention was good, to incorporate lots of great things. Then the video itself. The video missed the target. Producing it was fun, kpop jokes, ironic. But everything was lost in the video. Instead of being something funny and ridiculous that makes people crack-up, it is just a miss. Marquez Brownlee did the same, he has a weird scene at the beginning of the video, he had to address what the idea was behind. All the nuances of his scene are also missing. They tried too much to pack a lot of things in the video but at the end they made a lot of things not really well. Casey was honored to be invited to be in this 2018 celebration video. The creators were not paid to be here. It is supposed to be a celebration of the YouTube community. It started 5 years ago, it was great, YouTube wanted to to more. A video for advertisers? Casey also addresses the fact that yes the advertisers are on YouTube, but we should think that it is also what enables creators to do what they do. Merging advertisement with videos from creators into one promotional video was quite wrong. Casey do not want YouTube to stop to make rewind videos. Instead they should learn from this mistake and make videos really dedicated to celebrate the YouTube community.
