Casey still thinks that Youtube is not doing enough for video creators. He made the following video a few days ago but did not post it because he thought it was too harsh, but this morning he has seen his latest travel vlog video demonetized... so he has to talk about it. Last week there was a gigantic controversy about demonization, Phil has made a video to explain the circumstances around all that. It was a catalyst that started people to really explain what is wrong and what YouTube should do. YouTube does not make enough for its community. Casey owes his career to YouTube, he knows many people there, he knows that they think they do the best for everybody, but Casey disagrees. He explains the incomes and where the people come from on YouTube : search, red, tv... but the community is upset. It can threaten the whole company. Adpocalypse : a few months ago there was a problem with advertisement, some advertisers did not want to be related to come contents, YouTube immediately asked them what they should do. Some creators had a drop by 80%. Casey compares this to a normal 9 to 5 job where your salary goes from $500 a week to $100 a week, for the same amount of work. But the worse is that in this situation with YouTube it is like if your boss doesn't tell you what is going on, you can't call him, no answers anywhere. Total lack of transparency to the YouTube community. YouTube was very loud and clear to the advertisers but not a word to the creators. Some videoos had been demonetized while some other much more controversial but related to YouTube main channels (like Jimmy Kimmers) were not. The community does not feel good about the platform. Search can be replaced, Red : Netflix does a better job, TV... is TV, but the community is what makes YouTube extraordinary. None of their competitors has such a community. A disruption can take place iIf a competitor can provide a bigger audience and better opportunities to monetize their content AND the community loose faith in YouTube. Vine had millions of users. But when the top 20 creators started to feel not treated and paid properly and they weren't given what they needed, the left. And a year later the platform shut down. People are talking about Twitch and other big companies like Amazon want the community. Casey has no real solution but has ideas. Why not allow creators to advertise for their own channels for example. Jimmy Kimmel can. Why creators can't be their own agency. Trending page, Casey is always on this page, great for him but why? it makes other people angry. Is it someone at YouTube who likes his work or is it an algorithm? No idea, a little transparency about that could be useful. More communication is needed. Ads revenue is money given based on view, one time. While at the same time the YouTube company is growing, increasing its value. Why not give creators shares in the company like stocks. Last idea, for Kardashian show the channel is advertised everywhere before a new season starts, but on the other side YouTube is not celebrating its community, they should show a real appreciation for what the community has brought to the platform. He wants YouTube to succeed. Casey appealed to the decision to his latest video having been demonetized... and YouTube agreed to remonetize it. Why? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZakJFqdpRY
