3:24am Casey wakes up to prepare himself for the half marathon. Shower, shaving, cab ride to Brooklyn. 5:13am, the gates open at 5:40 until 6:40 or maybe 7:00am. Peter is with Casey. They walk to vip area, they are early, no rush. A3492 bib on. Casey is pumped up. His friend Roberto is here too, an Olympic runner. Athens 2004. They drop their bags. Nev is there too, eating a banana. Portable potty on race day, really gross. Packed on the starting line. The first 500 feet are pure fun. Then it start to hurts, but it's ok, you think that if you can continue at this pace you will break your personal record. 6 miles left, perfect... but then everything hurts. You start to slow down. The last mile is the hardest. 13.13 miles in 1:23:58 that's 6:24 minutes per mile. Nev is a few minutes behind. Airbnb medal. Changing room. Chilling after the run eating pancakes and bacon.
