In his studio Casey tells a story about the power of leverage of social media for something good. Casey goes in the subway and explains that last night he saw Jerome's tweet. Jerome is a very focused guy, especially when it comes to people who need help. Casey shows an extract of Jerome's video about 20 million people in Somalia, Africa who have no food and will experience one of the worst famine. It's not very well reported in the US but Jerome had an idea: find a plane, fill it with food and send it to Somalia. He tweeted this video, he directed it at Turkish airlines, the only airline allowed to go to Somalia, and it went viral. Jerome is now here in an office with Casey, he explains what he did. Ben Stiller responded. He also is here today. Full update. Jerome explains in details what he did and want to do. Casey is kind of interviewing Jerome. They got in touch with Turkish Airlines, they have a conference call. Turkish Airlines is ok to provide a 60 tons cargo plane. They just have to fill it with food before Monday March 27. Then they also can use 140 tons free plane space in the coming months. Back in his studio Casey explains that the idea became action. Casey is proud of what Turkish Airlines did. Now there is a gofundme campaign to find food and organize the infrastructure to send the food to Somalia. The donations are tax deductible. There are also lots of places who needs help, this plane is a drop in the hat, but it is at least one very important first step. Lots of links under the video to understand what happens.
