Backstage of an ad video making. In 2017 the academy awards will celebrate zero youtubers. Hair and makeup before a video shoot. A commercial for Samsung. It will be ont TV during the oscars. His friend Max is here to help him to help him to vlog and shoot the commercial at the same time. Huge trailer van where he gets prepared. He is starring in the commercial, not producing it. The cinematographer is the one who shot Fight Club. Lots of ideas, but Casey wanted to show the Youtube community. He asked Samsung so they can make a video about youtubers as they are not nominated at the oscars. Samsung was OK with it. Food on stage. Skateboard. Massive production for one 60 seconds commercial. Drone views to show the amount of people and gear. Makeup truck, wardrobe, snacks, production team, stunt props, geterade, security, trucks, cones, storyboards, lighting crane, baby generator, grip truck, lighting truck, even his own personal trailer. Cue cards, speaker system, went down guy, projector crew, stand in, condor camera crane? A lot of cooks. 3 months of effort to prepare this moment. Casey is more used to shoot something in 5 minutes on his cellphone. This production is how it is made the normal way. Views of the shoot. Max interviews children about what is happening here. Night shoots are challenging. Max also interviews Casey who struggles to repeat the same sentence for the 50th time while trying to say it naturally. Past midnight they are still shooting the video. He cant' show the commercial before it is released on TV but it is Casey in a tuxedo, standing in a parking lot delivering a monologue, a speech about the youtube community. The audience is the academy awards. Then videos of youtubers, what they do. Wrap. 3 days of shootings, weeks of prep, months of planning.
