No vlog yesterday but a special video to show that even if there were terrorist attacks in NYC, the life continues in New York City, regardless of what the media are saying. Casey shows his Gopro Karma new drone, over the river. Today's episode is dedicated on gear. He explains that he always want the best image quality without having the gear being in the way of what he wants to do. When he enters an airplane with his big camera, tripod and microphone, the attendants always say that it is forbidden to film here. When he uses a small pocket camera, nobody cares, he just looks like a nerd. When you can't even bring a camera, he uses his cellphone. The best image possible. Today is a very special day for drone enthusiasts. The parrot drone is practical because it is small and fits into a regular backpack, but the image quality is not great. The DJI Phantom 4 has great quality but is very bulky and only fits safely in a very big backpack, and that is in the way of film making. So he just put it in a regular backpack, without special care, and that's in part why he already has 7 broken drones. Today Gopro announces their new drone. It's packable. The arms are collapsing. Not an endorsement for Gopro but they gave him the ability to test an early prototype. He shows how the wings flip out. Also the camera is detachable (meaning replaceable). The camera is in front, so the legs can also be flipped so the drone takes less space. 3 axis gimbal, it pops out so it is even less bulkier AND you can put it on a stick and have a portable stabilized gopro. The controller includes a screen, you don't need to connect it to a phone. He packs everything, put the gimbal on his chest and goes outside on the boosted board, recording with the new gopro. It is very smooth. He even test it on cobblestone and the footage is still smooth. He unpacks the drone next to the river, attach the camera. He has read no instruction manual. He starts the drone, it works on the third attempt. 1080p footage, it looks sharp. 1 mile away. He then tries his usual thing of being followed by the drone while riding his boosted board. Back in the studio. He is really excited with the idea of the full stabilized camera AND drone in a backpack. At the end of the episode Casey makes a full disclosure and show a team member of gopro who is supervising his test. Casey explains that he required that no instructions were given to him so he can test as freely as possible, to discover how it works all by himself. The drone will be on the market from October 23th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cf16mp6Nbh8
